can anyone tell me why this market is so important? even at .99 cents a song the margins for the retailer can't be that much.
well per song not much but it adds up fast. Even if Amazon and Apple only bring in 10-15 cents per song at .99 cents per song. That adds up fast.
Between Amazon and Apple I like Amazon better. Plus I get like 10 bucks a year in free song from Amazon for text books I buy threw them. It is a nice bonus and I can promise you doing that little give away has pushed me to buy more text books from Amazon proving they are the same price as lets say B&N or the campus book store but often times Amazon is the cheapest and I am running on my free Amazon Prime for student member ship 2 day shipping to boot.
Apple pays 70% straight to the record companies, which would be $0.90. If Amazon pays the same, then they have $0.21 loss before they even start. Or Amazon gets different prices than Apple, which would need some explaining.

Setting aside the question of no VM at all, has it occurred to anyone that having a restriction on running in a VM even on the licensed machine could put a damper on the idea of having Parallels (or VMWare) be able to start up off of the BootCamp partition? As that's an ability that I've been wanting, that's something that bothers me about this....

I'm trying to old out with my cracked screen 3GS. Not sure I can wait until September...
Most 3rd party shops will replace the 3GS screen for $50.
Take it to the Apple Store and they'll replace it for $99.

Now they are. The problem is it took them a couple of years. They waited until Intel produced mobile chips that "suit" them instead of producing a Mac that could use available quad core mobile chips. And we are not even talking about minor details like Apple never using the most powerful versions of CPUs (for example, there is no MBPs with SandyBridge/2920XM).
Apple has never used extreme edition processors. It's outside the scope of their market (aside from beyond their TDP).
However, that's immaterial to the overall point. You tried to claim that apple skimps on some products, therefore them skimping on LTE because they can makes sense. That's no longer the case, Apple does use mobile quad core processors, so your claim no longer has any basis.

i do realize that this is a private beta but even in the beta stage parallels was much better.....
Um... this is a private beta for a reason. Also, none of the Parallel's beta builds were built with debug symbols on and they were meant for public release.
Um, as a "private beta" it might be considered a "public alpha". I'm sure they're just making sure that things work before the public beta...

I have a feeling that whatever problems they had with the white color was solved a long time ago. I'm sure they've been ready to produce white iPhones fr several months and are waiting till the 1 year anniversary time fram to start shipping the white iPhone to boost sales seeing as the iPhone 5 was pushed back to September.
This. With a White iPhone coming out this close to past annual release date(s) of Next Gen iPhones, this further backs the rumors of a later release (fall) of iPhone 5. I love my iPhone 4 and hope that 5 is more kick ass updates under the same hood. Loved my 2g, disliked 3G, 3GS form factors, but am led further to believe that with iPhone 4 coming in white, this late in the cycle, that the iPhone 5 will be more of a slight upgrade iPhone 4G/GS as mentioned in past posts and forums. My .02

Why is anyone surprised about this? It goes without saying that MS will try to squeeze every dime they can out of Vista, and that includes making non-PC users pony up for the most expensive version. It's the way it's always been with MS... nickel and dime all the way. Just yet another checkmark in the "why I can't get away from MS fast enough" column.

Yah know the interesting thing? Until now you had to compare Apple against the entire industry. e.g. Apple vs. (Dell+gateway+Sony+HP+Toshiba+Comcrap+Alienware+Falcon Computers+etx.)
Now that Apple can run Windows Oranges to oranges can be compared. Until you start talking about OS's in which case you are back to talking Apples to Oranges.

I would go so far as to suggest the reason we don't have an App Store on the current Apple TV is because Apple is saving it as the compelling reason to buy an entire TV set.
Apple doesn't have to provide the reasons to buy the Apple TV set. Developers will do that for them. In the hundreds of thousands.
Pretty soon you won't be switching channels. You'll be switching apps.

CNET has a good video about Apple's refund. If you mistakenly purchased, you have a 90 day period to rectify the problem and Apple deals with it, not the developer.
Even 7 days is not enough to see your bank statement, so I wouldn't be surprised if Android had a similar period.
Besides, no sane company wants to have this sort of bad publicity. It's fairly obvious that people make mistakes.
Somebody suggested that the developer would lose Apple's $300 cut - that's not the case.

Trackpads and touch screens are quite different input devices. Touch screen input requires that you actually "touch" what you want to manipulate. With a trackpad, you don't have quite the precision to precisely put your finger on an object on screen, since the object is not displayed on the track pad.
It just doesn't translate that well. Trackpads still very much require cursors, which iOS's UI lacks.
Then all you need is a cursor overlay; just how you operate in an iOS simulator.

Idk why people say that the update affects only gamers. It affects almost everyone. OpenGLs, 3D, movies, etc.

When we say "enough" and "runs fine" we are thinking of apps that require minimal standards. Man, when we are talking about at least quality games such as WoW, SC2, and MMO's, the difference between 320m and the Intel GPU is the difference between "playable and not playable"

Like millions of other Mac owners, I don't play any games on my Mac and haven't for years. With iOS devices and consoles being so much cheaper, it just doesn't make any sense to me to pimp-up my Mac for gaming.
