I think google has a lock on the map thing. I can't see apple employees driving around remapping the world to get their own data base
I dont think they are looking to collect source data - there are plenty of license sources for that today.
Its how the maps app works - I dont like Android as much as iOS for a lot of reasons, but maps and navigation is definitely not one of them.
I hope they upgrade their GPS systems also - in NYC, iPhone 4 GPS on foot is extremely poor compared to my Sprint EVO.

But the whole point is that in a "regular" war, we are far more likely to capture regular grunts or low level officers who have limited intelligence to provide.
Don't you think capturing KSM, who was one of the leaders of Al Qaeda is very different ? The guy obviously knows a great deal, and obviously will not easily divulge that information.
That doesn't make it acceptable to torture him (or anyone else) - you can't win a war against terrorists by becoming a terrorist. Where would you draw the line and how do you determine that the line is in the "correct" place?
If you say it's OK to torture someone who knows a lot but won't tell you what he knows, how do you determine he's not telling you everything and therefore sanction torture? Before you know it, you are sanctioning torture against everyone "just in case" and it then becomes a routine part of any interrogation against anyone you capture.
I know there are no easy answers to this, and I don't know how I would react if my daughter's life was at risk and could be saved by torturing someone, but I do know that torture is wrong in and of itself and cannot be justified from a moral perspective

Does anyone else think the choice of image for Craig is odd? Fist in the air, hand on his hip, hunched over... All adds up to looking like a cranky old man.

Hi,
I'm wondering how I can go about setting up my Mac so that I can share my family photos, but only to users on my home network. I'm often out on the road and use public wi-fi, as well as a work network, and I don't want anybody else to have access to these files.
Can anyone help me out?

There isn't a universal yet; but you can run the 'application' in Rosetta (but not the screensaver, because Rosetta doesn't do screensavers,) or you could try downloading the source and building it yourself.
(Or, if you're REALLY adventurous, you could try running the x86 command-line Linux version...)

I can send youtube videos to my Apple TV. However with the MLB iPad app I can't even though the MLB videos in the app have the icon for me to select Apple TV as an output device.
Is this something the MLB app is doing to prevent the videos from appearing on the tv. I thought since the video has the output selector control it would work.

I am all against this nostalgia gaming. U have so many great games available on the ipad or iphone that utilise their potencial, why would u wanr to play games that have 12 pixels running around? I think it has more to do with people remembering the "good old times" when they havent had all that depression, fear and insecurity going on.

Haven't listened to them for quite some and accidentally stumbled upon their new LP "There Is No Enemy". Damn did I miss these guys. I loaded the new album on my iPod for a quick listen for my 5min hike to the store. Well I ended up walking around for like 45mins totally spaced and only came to when the cd ended. All in all, good walk - great cd.;)

I disagree.
"The ONLY thing that matters in these kind of numbers is whether or not you can run an application on it." ---If it cant make a call its a different device PERIOD.
Those are all phones. By your logic, you prove my point. By your logic there are 10 different iOS devices , are you saying that THEY -"are not the same thing or related in any relative way" ?
PS : I love my iPhone but it is not my leader. Apple is cool but I don't jump up and down for any and every Pro- Apple story I can drink down. This chart is BS...IMHO
You are creating an artificial distinction between the products. It doesn't matter to a potential developer because they know if they release to iOS, it's going to go on ALL iOS products but maybe not all ALL android products. Certainly not to a tablet. This is what the article is focusing on. You are very narrowly looking at one data point. And even the construction of your argument for the interpretation of that data point is flaw when you decide to compare one manufacture of iOS to all manufacturer's of Android. If HTC can only sell only a few units of an Android phone, then they may drop the platform and look somewhere else for a better os. (Not saying HTC is in that boat. I know they sell a bunch... just a thought experiment). to only one feature.

It goes to show you that they can still make a profit with $100 off. I guess the price gouging by Apple continues.
You're making an assumption, and an unsubstantiated accusation....

So, I JB my iPhone 4 before the iPad JB was released using pwnagetool. Do I need a new DL, or will this work just fine for an untethered iPad 1, jailbreak?

I'm the one who found it. It's the following file:
System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AOSNotification.framework/Resources/English.lprog/Localizable.strings
thanks, it might have been good to point that out in the first place :)
anyone else to confirm?

Go to settings, general, scroll down to international. Might be hard to decipher as it is a foreign language. International is the 4th one up from the bottom.
