Pricing would be crazy. I wonder if this would change when more manufacturers make Thunderbolt ports.

I'm really liking how Apple are putting these dev previews and updates out (no physical disks and such).
I wonder what's different in this one? Release log anyone?

More important than an "empty" button I would like to see a restore function in the Trash, where you can highlight one or more files or folders and click the "restore" button.I want a way to see how much space the trash is taking up before I empty it. Is there a way? There was in OS 9 and OS 8.

I haven't bought a single song from Amazon, not because I'm against them (I luv my Prime membership), but because they only sell MP3's that simply don't sound as good as an AAC file at an equivalent bit rate. Dropping the price to 69 cents doesn't improve the quality of the product and that's not good enough for me.
Viva la FLAC! Viva la Apple Lossless! Viva la.. um... AAC! :D

Hey, Bluetooth MM can operate on 1 or 2 AA batteries.
Does this mean we will get a longer battery live than the previous one?
By "previous one" I'm assuming you mean the Wireless one button mouse and not the wired Mighty Mouse, seeing as wired mice don't use batteries. Simple answer, it's possible, but I wouldn't bet on getting better battery life.
I think it's a kind of weird feature, personally. If they did it because they thought maybe sometimes you'd have just one battery lying around, that would be fine... but they say it's to make it lighter... Batteries are heavy in bulk, but a single AA battery has no significant weight, imo.

You need a larger sample size though.
With only one data point for each, you need Poisson statistics. The standard deviation would be the square root of the value.
So the two values are:
138.8 +/- 11.8
141.2 +/- 11.9
So the error bars are large enough that we can't say for sure.
Also the difference is small enough that oils from touching them could be the difference.
Its good data though. Just need some more for better statistics.
Dude, you're thinking too much... There should be very little difference between two white iphones as well as two black iphones since they're made exactly the same. I'd say one test is fairly reliable in this case assuming those are the same scales.

Seriously, no one is questioning this? I don't care how big this woman is, no one can eat 90 pounds of food plus 2 hams and 5 loaves of bread.
I'm with you. If they took all the food they claim she ate in one sitting and piled it up, the pile would be bigger than her.
I don't care how fat you are, that's more volume than a human can consume. She would've either vomited or exploded.

I believe icerabbit was referring to a feature to restore an item to its original location once putting it in the trash. Windows has this feature in the recycle bin and it's a handy little feature.
This isn't to do with Time Machine as the user has not yet deleted the item from the Trash and the system.
Sorry IceRabbit i misread your post. My bad! :o

Here's my latest acquisition to the flynn family. I got it from a member here at MR in the Marketplace.
http://ftp1.net/img/dellmini10v.jpg
I needed a portable computer to supplement my desktop, for when I travel (which is infrequent). This is why I opted for a netbook, I needed the ability to connect to my companies network and access programs/computers/servers (something an iPad cannot do) and also hold my photos when I do travel.
The used mini fit that bill, its a hackintosh, so I still get to use OSX, its cheap, small and functional.
Nice, can't be the size and weight for travel.
Did you sell your 15" MBP, I recall you can the AG screen, then glossy but didn't like it so much.

The last round of iMacs are supposed to have new airport extremes that can be firmware upgraded to 802.11N. This is based upon a finding whilst using bootcamp and windowsXP/Vista(?). With Apples special TV thingy coming out next year (Steve Jobs announced at WWDC) all Macs really need wireless faster than G so it makes sense to upgrade them all to "n". So I strongly suspect the latest macbok pros have it - and it will be enabled next year.
Well, they don't really need wireless faster than G as G has enough raw throughput to handle media streaming. What they need is a G network protocol that would be robust enough to avoid interference and prioritise media streaming. This can be added in a firmware update to ALL Airport Extreme enabled Macs - much better than limiting iTV to only the newest of the new.

Welcome to the twelfth installment of the Simple Werewolves Game!
The game will begin as soon as discussion and sign-ups conclude. The number of people that sign-up will dictate how many and what type of werewolves we have in the game.
This game is a blend of simple and live formats. This means that lynching occurs after a time period, not majority. Specials also only have 24 hours to PM.
GAME RULES:
THE GOOD GUYS:
Hunter: The Hunter can pick a player to protect every night against werewolf attacks. However, the Hunter cannot protect the same player two nights in a row, and cannot protect him/herself. The protection does extend into the daytime, meaning the Hunter can protect a villager from a Kamikaze Werewolf attack.
Seer: The Seer can find the true role of any ALIVE player.
Villager: Same as before.
Neighborhood Watch: Three elves that can exchange PMs with one another. Their members can be infected and they cannot recruit additional members. They have no decisions to PM to me. What they discuss is up to them. The roles of Neighborhood Watch will only be giving if there are more then 15 people playing.
THE BAD GUYS:
The Werewolves: Werewolves can PM each other. They pick one villager to eat per night. There are three kinds of werewolves;
a) Alpha Wolf, can at any time during the game, pick one villager to infect. This will convert the villager into a normal werewolf (no special abilities) and join the werewolves' team. The infection is effective against specials such as the Seer.
b) Kamikaze Werewolf has the ability to pick any one villager to kill during his lynching. In other words, if he is voted to be hanged, he will take one villager with him.
c) The normal Werewolf has no powers.
Miscellaneous:
a) Villagers can NOT PM each other. (exception: neighborhood watch members)
b) Werewolves CAN PM each other.
c) Players can edit their posts during the game is in progress, however if you edit your post, you MUST give an explanation of why/what you edited.
d) (a.k.a. the jav6454 rule (by the way of -aggie-) :D) Dead players can NOT participate in the game - this includes providing information, encouragement, tips or otherwise. This has been an issue in the previous game, so I'm going to be more strict with this. Dead players are eligible to ONE post following his death. This one post follows the same rules as before - cannot influence the game, and so forth. Posts consisting of little more than an image is DISCOURAGED, so please avoid this. Dead players are allowed to post as much or as often as they want. But they must make all of there posts in the colour gray. The posts are also not allowed to influence the game in any way. If you are unsure of a post topic, don't post it. Good posts are along the lines of "Good job villagers!". A bad post would be: "I think Bob is a wolf." If people start posting things that could influence the game, I will ask them to edit the post to remove the offending text then reinstate the jav rule.
e) Voting for lynching will close 24 hours after day has started. (Unless stated otherwise.)
f) Voting can only take place in the daytime. Any votes made during the night will not be counted.
g) For clarity, when you vote, bold the name of the player you're voting for. This alleviates confusion and makes it easier for me to count the votes. You can also play with this - "I really like Bob, he's a great guy" counts as a vote for Bob You can jokingly vote by not bolding the name - it will not be counted.
h) You can retract and change your vote at any time up to the close of the vote.
i) The game will begin at DAYTIME, the days are 24 hours unless specified else. The person with the most votes will be lynched at that time. In the event of a tie, the first person to that number of votes is lynched.
j) There will be a TIME LIMIT of 24 hours for Specials to send in their PMs. The time limit will be 24 hours after the posting of the lynching. (NOT after the voting closes). Please remember that you can pre-PM these actions at the start of the day preceding the night in question. You can change this action up until the next morning. I also remind you that the villagers can agree to not lynch anyone with a unanimous vote.
k) I will post special results as soon as I am online and have them all. Thus, it is highly recommended that you set your profile to invisible mode so that other posters cannot view your login activity to see if you were online in the period between lynching and special results.
l) Villagers will now be told if they are scanned or protected. Specials should consider this before preforming their actions.
m) This question has came up in the discussion, so here is the turn order during the night:
Werewolf infects
Seer scans;
Hunter protects;
Werewolves attack.
n) If a player is a mod, he or she is not allowed to use their other godly powers to alter the game.
o) It is recommended that the players put their status into Invisible Mode.

I use pages exclusively as do all of the workers who are testing Apple at my business. After a short learning curve, everyone likes it and it is more than capable right now. You are really coming off as an Apple ball-buster. All I read from you is negative Apple. Are you collecting your checks from Redmond???
Yep. That's what I get too. People who actually take the time to use Pages and explore it's features, leaving their Microsoft Word prejudices behind, enjoy using it.
I find it amazing that someone would argue that Apple updating it's software every year is a bad thing as opposed to Microsoft's upgrade every 3-4 years. Come on, we're at v2 for Pages as opposed to v12 for Word. You've got to expect a v2 product has a little growing room yet.

Doing things to improve existing features like many of the things in this thread are what make me happy, I must say.
I worry that with all the graphical trickery and little gizmos the OS is getting too convoluted. I'd very much like to see everything become more integrated and straightforward rather than increasingly complicated. I appreciate options added for power users and I use many myself, but I'm hoping that the essential OS experience does not grow more complicated.

I'll delete all the music that I've purchased via iTunes that will be available on the cloud, yes.
I wouldn't delete it. Local storage is so cheap that you'd be almost foolish to not have a local physical backup.
Personally, I wouldn't store my music in the cloud. I would back it up and stream it from the cloud, but it wouldn't be my only copy. Call me paranoid, but I like backups.

i think you missed my point - it's about her probably having a mental issue thinking her goal is 'ok'.
Raising healthcare is an issue - it's common sense that 'fit' people will probably have a smaller impact on healthcare than someone who is unfit. Being fit doesn't guarantee perfect health, but it's like having a flat tire on a car vs a car without a flat - which one is going to go farther and requires less repairs???
You are absolutely right about her having some sort of mental dysfunction. Furthermore, she has defied logic and shows flawed reasoning or the inability to reason at all. She is opposing the norm of society, the ability to stay healthy, and the ability to have a better quality of life. With today's knowledge on obesity, she realizes she is running towards death, and runs to it with arms wide open.
People in good physical shape with a good diet, as you noted, do not always have better health outcomes, but statistically speaking, people with a healthy BMI and a good diet almost always have better health outcomes. Arthritis prevalence and severity is a major issue for people who are class 3 (formally morbidly) obese. Obesity is one of the top risk factors for death and is the top risk factor for about 7 different deadly and/or debilitating chronic diseases.

No freakin thanks. Its already hard enough to control the touch sensitive orange ipod because its so "touchy." It would literally be impossible to use the ipod without looking with an interface like that, driving with an ipod would go from dangerous to suicidal. Its not the least bit practical and would just be a gimmick.
Its just an all around NO for me. One hand control would be a pain, no-look control would be impossible, the learning curve would take awhile to get used to because it would be the first thing with controls like that, no cases, pretty much no everything. Bad idea.

Not sure if I would consider "AJA, BlackMagic, and Promise" to be "industry demand." :) I'll give ya Promise.
I would think having names like Western Digital, Sony, HP, Maxtor, Iomega, and Seagate a lot more proof that TB is being adopted. USB 3.0 has been gaining momentum by leaps and bounds over the past year.
I have a feeling TB is going to be the next Firewire: sure, it works, but USB is so much more dominant at basically the same speeds. But I don't really care at the end of the day...just something much much faster than USB 2.0 for my hundreds of gigs of data that I copy/move around a bit.
And yes, for the true true true speed fans that need the best of the best of the best in their profession...sure, buy what you need.

Now I undertand that building this sort of infrastructure costs money and thus it is logical to assume that they would want to recoup some if not all of that investment. However, why would I want to stream music to my phone when I already have music on my phone?
I could see this work if there was a cheaper iPhone with less memory. It would allow Apple to build its market share amongst people who kust want a phone while allowing them to opt in at anytime if they want to add multimedia files.
Otherwise I just dont see the value. Now if this were some kind of hardrive that allowed access to all kinds of files in real time ala dropbox than we might have something. For that $20 would be a bargain assuming the amount of storage was reasonable.

With thunderbolt you can use an adapter for USB 3.0. That is, once they start putting them on the market.
That is true. I was just thinking that if the new iMacs are gonna have USB at all, then they should be the fastest version. I'm not sure about this, but is the USB 3.0 plug the same as the USB 2.0 plug? I just think that it would be nice if these new machines would have the newest interfaces available. As far as Firewire is concerned, I have an external hard drive that uses FW 800. I am hoping that the new thunderbolt does not do away with FW all together. I know that the new MBP's actually have both. I hope the new iMac's do too.

while the technology would be very cool IMO... i could see it causing a lot of problems... it's a lot easier to accidentally move over a surface than to accidentally press keys/etc...
seems like it'd be more of a hassle in the end for a portable music player...
for a based application, say... touchless displays, etc, that aren't mobile... that might be more advantageous
